Remove people from your Faces corkboard

You can easily remove a snapshot from your Faces corkboard. You can also remove only specific photos within a Faces group, without removing the entire group. This is useful if you discover that you’ve accidentally confirmed a photo of the wrong person as a match for one of your snapshots.

Removing a snapshot or a photo within a Faces group doesn’t delete any photos from your iPhoto library.

Important:  Removing an entire Faces group from the corkboard deletes any name or email address information those photos contained (only from iPhoto, not from elsewhere on your computer).

To remove a person from your corkboard:

  1. Click to select Faces in the Source list.

If you’re in full-screen view, click the Faces button in the toolbar. If you don’t see the Faces button, click the button in the top-left corner of the window one or more times, until you see the toolbar change to the right one. Learn more about using the toolbar in full-screen view.

  2. Select the Faces snapshot you want to remove, and then press Command-Delete.

  3. Click the Delete button in the dialog that appears.

If you change your mind before taking any other action in iPhoto, you can place the person back on your corkboard by choosing Edit > Undo.

Note:  If you delete the last named photo of a person in your library, from anywhere in your library, the snapshot disappears from your corkboard.

To remove photos from a Faces group:

  2. Double-click a snapshot to see the photos it contains.

  3. Do one of the following:

    • Click the Confirm Additional Faces button, find the photo you want to remove, and then click it to change its status to “reject.” You can repeat this action for other photos, if you want. When you’re finished, click Done.

    • Select the photo or photos you want to remove and press the Delete key.

This removes the photo from this Faces group. It doesn’t delete the photo from your library.
