Add and arrange photos in a calendar

The page layout used for a calendar page determines the number of photos on the page, the color of the page, and more. If you want to change the number of photo frames on a calendar page, change the calendar page’s layout. After changing the page layout, you can add photos to the photo frames.

To add a photo to a photo frame on a calendar page:

  1. Open the calendar project.

  2. Double-click the page you want to add a photo to.

    The page spread appears.

  3. To locate the photo, do one of the following:

    • Click the Photos button in the toolbar and locate the photo you want in the Photo pane.

      Tip:  If you can’t find the photo you want, add the photo to your calendar project using the instructions in the task below. (If you’re working in the iPhoto main window, you can also drag the photo into the project in the Source list.) After you add the photo to your project, the photo appears in the “All Photos in Project” and Unplaced Photos categories.

    • Locate the photo you want on the page spread. You can use a photo in a photo frame or on a date.

  4. To add the photo to the photo frame, do one of the following:

    • To add a photo to an empty photo frame on a calendar page, drag the photo thumbnail from the Photo pane (or from another photo frame) to the empty photo frame.

    • To replace a photo on a calendar page, drag the new photo on top of the existing photo. The new photo replaces the old photo.

    • To swap photos between frames, drag the photo from one frame to another frame.

To add a photo to a date on a calendar’s month page:

  1. Open the calendar project.

  2. Double-click the month page that contains the date that you want to add a photo to.

    The page spread appears.

  3. To locate the photo, do one of the following:

    • Click the Photos button in the toolbar and locate the photo you want in the Photo pane.

      Tip:  If you can’t find the photo you want, add the photo to your calendar project using the instructions in the task below. (If you’re working in the iPhoto main window, you can also drag the photo into the project in the Source list.) After you add the photo to your project, the photo appears in the “All Photos in Project” and Unplaced Photos categories.

    • Locate the photo you want on the calendar page. You can use a photo in a photo frame or on a date cell.

  4. To add the photo to the date cell, do one of the following:

    • Drag the photo thumbnail from the Photo pane (or drag a photo from a photo frame or date cell) to the date cell. Before you drop the photo, a yellow box appears on the date you’ve selected.

    • To replace a photo on a date cell, drag the new photo on top of the existing photo. Before you drop the photo, a yellow box appears on the date cell you’ve selected. The new photo replaces the old photo.

    • To swap photos between date cells, drag the photo from one cell to another. Before you drop the photo, a yellow box appears on the date cell you’ve selected.

To add a photo to your calendar project:

If you can’t locate a photo in the Photo pane, you need to add the photo to your calendar project.

  1. Locate the photo in your photo library.

  2. Select the photo.

  3. Click the Add To button in the toolbar, and then choose Calendar from the pop-up menu.

  4. Select the calendar that you want to add the photo to.

    The photo appears in the “All Photos in Project” and Unplaced Photos categories in the calendar you selected.

To zoom in on a photo:

  1. Open the calendar project.

  2. Select the photo that you want to zoom in on.

  3. Drag the zoom slider that appears above the photo.

  4. Drag the photo up, down, left, or right to reposition it in the photo frame.

To move a photo frame forward or backward on a calendar page:

Some calendar page layouts use overlapping photo frames. You can arrange overlapping photo frames by moving them forward and backward.

  1. Open the calendar project.

  2. Press the Control key while you click a photo, and then choose “Move to Front” or “Send to Back” from the shortcut menu.
