If you have photos taken with a film camera, you can import them into iPhoto by converting them to digital files. After importing the digital files into iPhoto, you can edit them and add them to slideshows, books, and albums, just as you can any other digital photos.
To make digital versions of prints or film negatives:

Use an appropriate digital scanner to scan the photographic prints, slides, or negatives, and then save them to your computer’s hard disk, a CD, or a DVD.
Take the prints or the film negatives to a developer that offers digital imaging services, and have your photos stored on a CD, a DVD, or the web.
