Create a card

You can choose from a variety of letterpress, folded, and flat card themes to create a card for any occasion.

To create a card:

  1. Select photos (or an Event, a Faces or Places group, or an album) to use in your card.

Some card themes use one photo, and some can display multiple photos. If you select a large number of photos, iPhoto will create a card using several of the photos, depending on the card theme that you choose.

  2. Click the Create button in the toolbar, and then choose Card from the pop-up menu.

The window updates to show a rotating display of card themes.

  3. Do any of the following:

    • To select a card type, click Letterpress, Folded, or Flat at the top of the window.

To learn more about letterpress printing, click Letterpress, and then click the video link at the bottom of the window, between the card preview and the Create button.

If you’re creating a folded or flat card, you can select a category of cards to display, for example, Holidays or Invitation & Thank You. Select Folded or Flat, and then click the left or right arrow on either side of the category name to select a category.

    • To select a card theme, click a card on the left or right to move through the card themes.

    • If you’re creating a folded or flat card, click an orientation (horizontal or vertical) in the lower-left corner of the window.

    • To select a background color, click a color swatch in the lower-right corner of the window.

    • To get more information about cards and pricing, click the “Learn more” button below the pricing information.

As you make changes, the card preview information at the bottom of the window updates.

  4. When you’re ready, click the Create button.

iPhoto creates a card with the photos and theme you selected. Your new card appears below Projects in the Source list and in the Bookshelf (in full-screen view).

iPhoto assigns a name to the card, based on the information associated with the card’s photos. You can easily change the name of the card project.
